Setting up your Linksys PAP2 ATA is typically quick and easy and you should be using the phone in no-time.

Basic Setup Diagram

Here is what comes in the package you received in the mail.

  • Quick Start Guide
  • Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter Unit (ATA)
  • Ethernet Cable
  • Power Adapter

You will also need (we do not supply these):

  • a telephone
  • a telephone cord (to connect the phone to the ATA)
  • access to your broadband network via an ethernet connection (ie: through an ethernet switch)

Installation Steps

  1. Insert a standard RJ-11 telephone cable into the Phone 1 port of the PAP2. Connect the other end of the cable to an analog telephone or fax machine.

  2. Note: Do not connect the RJ-11 telephone cable from the SPA to a house wall jack to prevent any chance of connection to the circuit switched telephone network. If this is not followed damage to the Sipura SPA-2000 may occur and the warranty is void.

  3. Insert the standard RJ-45 Ethernet cable (included) into the Ethernet/LAN port of the PAP2.

  4. Insert the power adapter jack into the Power port of the PAP2. Ensure that the power adapter jack is snugly attached to the PAP2.

  5. Insert the AC-plug end of the power adapter into a live A/C outlet which will power up the PAP2.

  6. Once the Power LED, Ethernet LED, and Line 1 LED are solid blue then your phone is ready to make and receive calls.

  7. To check if the ATA has an IP address:
    1. Lift telephone handset.
    2. Whether you have dial-tone or not, press the star (*) key 4-times.
    3. You should hear a voice say, 'Configuration Menu.'
    4. Dial: 110#
    5. You should now hear a valid IP address (ie: 192.168.0.101).
