How It Works.
Quantumvoice broadband phone service works with any broadband (high-speed) Internet connection, and works with any standard telephone. A phone adapter called an Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) is a small device that plugs into your home internet network and converts voice traffic into data traffic. This data traffic then travels across the internet to the end point and is then converted back to voice. Your regular telephone plugs into the ATA and does not require any special hardware. Once you have plugged a regular telephone into the ATA, you are ready to make and receive calls.
If you already share your Internet connection with two or more computers, then you should be all set to go. Simply plug your Quantumvoice Phone Adapter (ATA) into your broadband router or LAN Ethernet switch, plug in your telephone, and you will be up and running within seconds. If you currently only have one computer connected to your high-speed Internet connection, you may need to purchase a broadband router to share your Internet connection with your PC.
When your ATA is connected to your Internet connection, it automatically 'registers' with Quantumvoice's servers, and automatically directs calls to and from your location.
